Two levels: the lower city and the Mountain
Riding between the lower city and the Mountain means climbing the escarpment, and the City has built links for it. The Keddy Access Trail, completed in December 2020, is a 2.1 km multi-use facility (2.7 km with side connections) that repurposed a vehicle lane on the Claremont Access, one of the busiest mountain access corridors. The Escarpment Rail Trail takes the gentle line: 9 km of paved trail on a gradual slope from Corktown Park downtown to the East Mountain. City route maps also show The Brows, 21 km along the escarpment's edge.
Mid-drives for the climb
A mid-drive turns the chainring, so its power goes through the bike's gears; shift down on a climb and the wheel gets more force. The Himiway A7 Pro pairs an Ananda M100 mid-drive and torque sensor with a Shimano Alivio 9-speed, an SR Suntour X1 Boost fork (120 mm), a DNM AO-06 air rear shock and Schwalbe Super Moto-X 27.5 x 2.4 in tires. For dirt and gravel, the EUNORAU URUS 2.0 runs a Bafang M600 mid-drive, an SRAM NX 11-speed (11–42T), Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR II tires and Tektro four-piston brakes on 180 mm and 203 mm rotors. The waterfront trails
Along the harbour, the Hamilton Waterfront Trail runs 7.5 km from Princess Point to HMCS Haida, and the Hamilton Recreation Beach Trail adds 8 km on the Lake Ontario shore; both are largely off-road, paved and 6 m wide. The HamBur Loop ties the waterfront to Albion Falls, the Red Hill Valley and Burlington in a 50 km loop around the harbour.
Snow and winter clearing
At Hamilton's airport station, Environment Canada's 1991–2020 normals give a January daily average of −5.3 °C and 54.8 days a year staying at or below 0 °C; the 1981–2010 normals record 156.5 cm of snowfall a year. The City maintains bike lanes within the paved roadway in winter and ploughs select multi-use trails, and the Keddy Access Trail is maintained and salted. For snowy side streets, look at fat tire e-bikes. A 2023 City plan proposed 151 km of new and enhanced cycling facilities for 2024 to 2028.

Questions
Which e-bike handles Hamilton's hills?
A mid-drive with a torque sensor and a wide gear range. Getting from the lower city to the Mountain means climbing the escarpment, and a mid-drive uses the bike's gears on that kind of grade. The Himiway A7 Pro, for one, pairs an Ananda M100 mid-drive with a Shimano Alivio 9-speed.
Is there an electric bike store in Hamilton, Ontario?
We don't have one: Fast Ebikes sells online only, with no Hamilton showroom, test rides or pickup. Instead, your order ships free to your address or to a local bike shop you choose and book for assembly. Compare motor type, gearing, tires and battery Wh on the product pages to shortlist a bike.
How long does shipping to Hamilton take?
Orders need 1–3 business days of processing, then 2–7 business days with the carrier, depending on location. You get tracking by email once the bike ships, and someone has to sign for the insured package. On a long trip, tracking may show no new scan for up to 5 days.
Is Hamilton good for winter e-bike riding?
It takes some planning. The 1981–2010 normals at the Hamilton airport record 156.5 cm of snow a year, and the City ploughs only select multi-use trails, though it maintains bike lanes in the paved roadway. Fat tires, a removable battery you charge indoors and good lights make winter trips easier.
Can a Hamilton bike shop put my e-bike together?
Yes. Pick a local bike shop, book the assembly with them, and we ship the order to that shop instead of your home. Building it yourself works too: take photos or a video of the box before you open it, then inspect the frame, wheels and battery before assembly.
