How to choose an electric dirt bike
Pick the size first, then the motor, battery and pedals.
Size: mini, mid-size or full-size
The Yozma IN 10 and Heybike Villain roll on 14 in front and 12 in rear wheels, and the Yozma IN 10 Pro on 17 in and 14 in. The Riding'times GT54 and GT54 Pro run 60/100-14 front and 60/100-12 rear motorcycle-style off-road tires. The Jasion Patrol and the Riding'times GT73 and GT73 Pro run 19 in off-road tires up front. The brands list rider heights of 120–180 cm for the IN 10, up to 185 cm for the Villain, 143–192 cm for the IN 10 Pro, about 165–191 cm for the GT73 Pro and about 170–201 cm for the Patrol. For a small bike you pedal instead, see our folding e-bikes.
Motor: mid-drive or rear hub
The Yozma and Heybike bikes use a mid-drive that turns the rear wheel through a chain. Each lists its torque: 146 N·m on the IN 10, 190 N·m on the Villain and 220 N·m on the IN 10 Pro. Since that chain carries the motor's power, check its wear often. The Patrol has a brushless rear hub motor and the GT54 and GT73 models a geared rear hub with a 5.2:1 internal reduction: the motor sits in the rear wheel, so no chain carries its power.
Battery and pedals
Capacity runs from 1123 Wh on the IN 10 to 2160 Wh on the GT73 Pro, which carries two removable 60V 18Ah batteries. Our battery range guide shows how to work out range from watt-hours. The GT73 and GT73 Pro have cadence-sensor pedal assist, while the Patrol comes with pedals but runs on the throttle only.

Questions
What's the difference between an electric dirt bike and an electric mountain bike?
Size, weight and power. The 27.5 and 29 in bikes in our electric mountain bikes roll on bicycle tires and list 23.9 to 29.9 kg and, where given, 750 to 1300 W peak. The dirt bikes here sit on 12 to 19 in wheels and list 52.2 to 55.8 kg where given and 2000 to 5500 W peak. For a pedal-first trail bike, pick one of those mountain bikes.
How fast does an electric dirt bike go?
Listed top speeds are 32 km/h on the Yozma IN 10 and IN 10 Pro, 60 km/h on the Riding'times GT73 and 64 km/h on the Jasion Patrol. The GT54 lists 65 km/h, the Heybike Villain 72 km/h in mode 3 and the GT54 Pro 80 km/h. For the GT73 Pro, Riding'times' spec table lists about 60 to 74 km/h.
How far can an electric dirt bike go on one charge?
Brands list up to 80 km for the Heybike Villain and Jasion Patrol, 85 km for the Yozma IN 10 and 97 km for the IN 10 Pro. The Riding'times GT54 and GT54 Pro list up to 100 km with pedal assist, about 40 to 60 km on the throttle. The dual-battery GT73 Pro lists up to 140 km on the throttle and 270 km with pedal assist.
How long does it take to charge an electric dirt bike?
Brands list 4–6 h for the Heybike Villain, 5–6 h for the Yozma IN 10, 6–7 h for the IN 10 Pro, 7–8 h for the Jasion Patrol and 9–10 h for the Riding'times GT73. Jasion also lists fast charging for the Patrol, 15 to 80% in 3.5 h, and the GT73 Pro's 5–6 h uses its two included chargers, charging both batteries at once.
Do electric dirt bikes have pedals?
Some do. The Riding'times GT73 and GT73 Pro come with pedals and cadence-sensor pedal assist, and Riding'times lists a pedal-assist range for the GT54 and GT54 Pro. The Jasion Patrol includes pedals in the box but is throttle only: Jasion says it has no pedal assist system. Heybike's and Yozma's pages list no pedal assist for the Villain, IN 10 or IN 10 Pro.
Is a mini electric dirt bike big enough for an adult?
Go by rider height and payload. Yozma lists the IN 10, on 14 and 12 in wheels, for 120–180 cm with a 120 kg payload; Heybike lists the Villain, the same size, for up to 185 cm. The IN 10 Pro, a step up on 17 and 14 in wheels, is listed for 143–192 cm. Taller riders can compare full-size bikes: Jasion lists the Patrol for about 170–201 cm.
