How to choose an e-bike under $1,000
Start with where you'll ride and where the bike will live, then compare the battery, brakes, weight and max load. The figures below are the brands' own.
Start with the frame
- Folding: for a condo, a closet or a car trunk. The SAMEBIKE CY20 folds to 0.85 x 0.53 x 0.69 m and rolls on 20 x 2.35 in tires, so measure your space first.
- Full-size step-through: larger wheels roll over bumps more smoothly, and you step over a low top tube instead of swinging a leg over. The SAMEBIKE RS-A01 Pro-T rides on 26 x 2.125 in tires, with a front basket and a rear rack for errands.
- Moped-style: the Riding'times Z8 has a compact moped-style frame with an extended seat, 20 x 4.0 in fat tires and full suspension.

Battery and range
Compare watt-hours (Wh) first, then each brand's range and the conditions behind it:
- SAMEBIKE CY20: 468 Wh and 45–90 km. SAMEBIKE quotes 90 km on assist level 1 with a 75 kg rider on flat ground.
- SAMEBIKE RS-A01 Pro-T: 540 Wh, up to 110 km with pedal assist or 55 km in pure electric mode.
- Riding'times Z8, one-battery version: 750 Wh, 80–97 km on pedal assist or 40–80 km on the throttle.
Speed, hills, rider weight, tire pressure and cold all change real range. The CY20, RS-A01 Pro-T and Z8 batteries are removable, so you can charge them indoors. Our guide shows how battery size sets range.
Brakes, gears and suspension
The CY20, RS-A01 Pro-T and Z8 stop with mechanical disc brakes, and the Z8 adds an electronic brake. The CY20 and RS-A01 Pro-T have a Shimano 7-speed. The CY20 has a front fork and seat suspension; the RS-A01 Pro-T has a front fork and a seat-tube shock absorber. The Z8 has full suspension: an aluminum hydraulic front fork with 170 mm of travel and a double-spring rear.
Weight and max load
The CY20 and RS-A01 Pro-T weigh 28.0 kg each and have a 150 kg max load. Riding'times lists a 150 kg max load for the Z8, passenger included. Add your weight, your gear and anything on the rack, and keep a margin under the brand's figure.
Kids e-bikes in this list
EUNORAU's EKIDS models are kids e-bikes, each with a 24V 10Ah battery and a throttle. EUNORAU lists the EKIDS20 and EKIDS24 for ages 8 and up. Check the brand's age guidance on each product page.
