Rock, lakes and distance

The City of Greater Sudbury describes itself as situated on the Canadian Shield in the Great Lakes Basin, and as the geographically largest municipality in Ontario. It is locally known as the City of Lakes: 330 of them, more than any other municipality in Canada. On Shield rock, torque and suspension matter; across a municipality this size, so does range.

Two bikes built for it

The EUNORAU SPECTER-S 3.0 sends a Bafang M620 mid-drive with a torque sensor through a SRAM NX 1x11-speed (11–42T cassette), with full suspension (140 mm inverted fork) and 26 x 4.0 in Kenda tires; its 840 Wh LG battery accepts an optional second battery. The Taubik Westridge 4T Off Road runs 26 x 4.8 in Maxxis Minion fat tires, a 960 Wh Samsung battery and a 100 mm Mozo coil fork. Both sit in our fat tire e-bikes.

Where Sudbury rides

  • Trans Canada Trail: the 93 km Sudbury section connects Nairn Centre in the west to downtown Sudbury and on to Coniston (Rainbow Routes Association).
  • Ramsey Lake Cycle Tour de Sudbury: a circuit of Ramsey Lake on bike lanes, trails and some road sections, past Bell Park and the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area.
  • City routes: nearly 150 km of bike-friendly routes, with continued investment such as the Paris–Notre Dame Bikeway.

Plan for a six-month season

Environment Canada climate normals (1991–2020) for Sudbury show a January daily average of −12.7 °C, 98.6 days a year that stay at or below freezing, 263.4 cm of snowfall and 114.5 days with 5 cm or more of snow on the ground. By our arithmetic from those normals, the daily average is above 5 °C from May to October. The City states that bike lanes and designated cycling facilities currently receive no winter maintenance, so plan on spring to fall riding and read our winter storage guide. For Bike Month 2026 (June 1 to 30), the City and community partners planned Bike to Work Day and the annual Mayor's Bike Ride, a 5 km community ride led by Cycle North Network. Share the Road Cycling Coalition designates Greater Sudbury a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community.

Questions

Do you deliver e-bikes to Sudbury?

Yes. Shipping to the City of Greater Sudbury is free, as it is across Canada. We deliver to your street address or to a local bike shop you choose and book for assembly. We don't ship to P.O. boxes or remote communities; if you live in a remote community, call us before you order.

Is there a Sudbury e-bike store with test rides?

Not ours. Fast Ebikes sells online only, so there is no Sudbury showroom, no test ride and no pickup. To compare, check the details each manufacturer gives on our product pages, for example battery Wh, motor and tire width.

How long does shipping to Greater Sudbury take?

Once your order is confirmed, processing takes 1–3 business days and shipping 2–7 business days, depending on where you are located. We email a tracking number when it ships. A long haul can show no new scan for up to 5 days, which is normal.

Which e-bike suits Sudbury's terrain and winters?

For Canadian Shield terrain, a mid-drive with a torque sensor and a wide gear range, such as the EUNORAU SPECTER-S 3.0 with its SRAM NX 11-speed. With 263.4 cm of snow a year (Environment Canada, 1991–2020), fat tires such as the 26 x 4.8 in Maxxis Minion tires on the Taubik Westridge 4T Off Road add grip in spring and fall.

Who can assemble or repair an e-bike in Sudbury?

A local bike shop you choose. Have us ship the order to that shop and book the assembly with them; we don't repair bikes ourselves. Delivering to your home instead? Photograph the box before opening it, and check the frame, wheels and battery first.
