Weather: rain more than snow
Environment Canada's 1991–2020 normals for the Vancouver (Harbour) station give a January daily average of 5.3 °C, a July average of 19.0 °C and 1,537.4 mm of precipitation a year. The airport station counts 36.6 cm of snow a year, spread over 7.4 days, against 166.0 days with rain. Plan for wet pavement rather than snowbanks.
Where the bikeways go
The City of Vancouver's bikeway data, updated in October 2026, adds up to about 345 km of routes: about 116 km of protected lanes, 175 km of local-street bikeways and the rest painted or shared lanes. About 134 km of it is flagged for snow removal. Named routes include Seaside, about 28.6 km by way of Stanley Park Drive, the Coal Harbour seawalk and Point Grey Road; Off-Broadway, about 11.4 km; and the Arbutus Greenway, about 8.5 km. TransLink says the Granville Bridge is now open to people cycling, and its BC Parkway follows the Expo Line 26 km to Surrey City Centre.
Bikes for Vancouver riding
Steep streets
TransLink's cycling maps mark the areas with steeper hills. A mid-drive climbs through the bike's own gears: on the Velotric Discover M, a VeloCore mid-drive reads a torque sensor and drives through a Shimano CUES 9-speed, on a low step-through frame with a removable 802 Wh battery.
Daily commuting
The Velotric Tempo weighs 17.7 kg, rolls on 700 x 42c Kenda puncture-resistant gravel tires and stops with Shimano hydraulic discs on 180 mm rotors; its 374 Wh battery comes out for charging indoors. More: commuter e-bikes.
Small homes
For a condo storage room, the Velotric Fold 1 Plus folds, carries an integrated rear rack and runs 20 x 3.0 in puncture-resistant tires with a 60 mm hydraulic fork and a 608 Wh battery. See folding e-bikes.

Questions
Where can I buy an e-bike in Vancouver?
Online, on this page. Fast Ebikes has no Vancouver showroom, so there are no test rides and no pickup. Pick a bike from the grid, we ship it free, and it arrives at your address or at a local bike shop you choose and book for assembly. Product pages list motor type, battery size, tires and weight for comparing.
How long does an e-bike take to reach Vancouver?
We process an order within 1–3 business days. Shipping then takes 2–7 business days, depending on where you are located, and a tracking number comes by email once it leaves. Someone has to sign for the insured package, so give an address where a person will be in.
What kind of e-bike works best for Vancouver?
For a city with rain on 166.0 days a year at the airport station (Environment Canada, 1991–2020) and some steep hills, look for puncture-resistant tires, hydraulic disc brakes and a torque sensor. The Velotric Discover M adds a mid-drive for climbs; the Velotric Tempo, at 17.7 kg, is the easier one to lift.
Which Vancouver routes suit an e-bike?
Good starting points in the City's bikeway data are the Seaside route through Stanley Park and along Point Grey Road, the Arbutus Greenway and Off-Broadway. Heading east, TransLink's BC Parkway follows the Expo Line through South Burnaby and New Westminster to Surrey, and the Granville Bridge now has a route for people cycling.
Can I try an e-bike in Vancouver before I buy?
Not through us: we have no showroom and offer no test rides. For a feel of pedal assist, Mobi by Rogers, Vancouver's public bike share, has e-bikes in its fleet at more than 250 stations, available 24/7 year-round. After that, compare battery size, motor type and weight on our product pages.
