Surrey's growing bike network
The City of Surrey's Long-Term Cycling Vision maps 353 km of cycling routes: 266 km of protected facilities, 29 km of painted bike lanes and 58 km of local bikeways, with 178 km already built. The Green Timbers Greenway, listed as completed in 2026, runs 16 km east–west from Nordel to the Golden Ears Bridge on multi-use pathways along utility corridors, and the Fraser Heights Greenway covers 5 km from Tynehead Regional Park to the Port Mann Bridge. TransLink lists traffic-protected bikeways on 132 St, City Parkway and 100 Ave, and the BC Parkway follows the SkyTrain Expo Line from Scott Road Station to King George Station. A 7 km local bikeway on the 62 Ave corridor, from Boundary Park to Sullivan, is being built.
Rain, a little snow, some hills
Environment Canada's 1981–2010 normals for Surrey Kwantlen Park record 1,521.5 mm of rain a year and 40.8 cm of snow on 8.3 days, and Surrey Newton averages 3.8 °C in January and 17.9 °C in July. Winter crews prepare more than 4,200 km of roads, and the City's first priority includes steeply graded roads, a reminder that parts of Surrey climb.
