Built for relaxed rides, the Pace 5 REC Step-Through is a cruiser on a low step-through frame with swept-back bars, a wide saddle and a stem you can adjust. Below that upright position, a 750 W rear hub motor and a 733 Wh battery do the work.
Highlights
- Hub motor with Boost: 750 W rated, 1188 W peak and 80 Nm; Boost Mode lifts it to 1440 W and 96 Nm for up to 30 s.
- 733 Wh battery: 36V 20Ah with LG 21700 cells, removable without a key, rated by the brand for up to 121 km in Eco pedal assist; a full charge takes about 5 h.
- Throttle and sensor switch: a left-hand throttle, a torque sensor in the bottom bracket with a switch to cadence assist, and cruise control (see how torque and cadence sensors differ).
- Speed: top speed of 45 km/h by the brand's figure.
- Brakes, gears and tires: Tektro HD-E3120 hydraulic discs on 180 mm rotors plus regenerative braking, Shimano Altus 8-speed (12–32T) and 27.5 x 2.1 in tires.
- Load and tech: 150 kg maximum load and a 27.4 kg bike weight, with integrated lights and turn signals, 4G/GPS tracking and an e-lock. Aventon lists the system as certified to UL 2849 and the battery to UL 2271.
