Barrie's snow, in numbers
Environment Canada's 1981–2010 normals for the Barrie WPCC station record 223.0 cm of snowfall a year, with 65.9 cm in January alone and 16.5 days a year bringing 5 cm or more. That is close to double the 121.5 cm of downtown Toronto over the same period. January averages −7.7 °C, and 66.6 days a year stay at or below 0 °C. Winter 2025–26 ran heavier still: by January 28, 2026 the City had reported 300 cm of snow since November 1, 2025.
Which paths get cleared
The City does not maintain parks, trails or hills in winter, but staff clear and salt the bike path from Kempenfelt Drive to Hurst Drive, and parks staff maintain one main walking trail from Heritage Park to Minet's Point Road. During that heavy spell, the snow lifts focused on narrow curb lanes and on-street cycling lanes. Where snow stays on the ground, wide tires do the work. The Taubik Escape S folds, rides on 20 x 4.0 in CST BFT fat tires with VIBEE WB800-HLO-20 suspension (65 mm travel), and pairs a torque sensor with a 720 Wh Samsung battery and Zoom dual-piston hydraulic brakes.
Summer: the bay and the north shore
The Waterfront Trail, Barrie's most popular pathway, runs about 6.7 km along the waterfront; it is part of the Trans Canada Trail and connects to the North Shore Trail. The city has over 88 km of public trails and 47 km of cycling infrastructure (multi-use paths, bicycle lanes and signed routes), with more added each year. The North Shore Trail, a former rail corridor, runs about 3 km from Heritage Park to Penetanguishene Road along the north shore of Kempenfelt Bay on a 4 m wide stonedust surface. The City calls it a great trail for biking.
For stonedust and gravel, big wheels and a suspension fork smooth the ride. The Taubik Westridge 29T has 29 x 2.4 in Kenda Booster Pro tires, an SR Suntour XCM-PM-DS-HLO 29 fork with 100 mm of travel, a torque sensor and a Shimano Acera 8-speed. See more electric mountain bikes.

Questions
Where can I buy an e-bike in Barrie?
Online, here. Fast Ebikes has no shop in Barrie and doesn't offer test rides or pickup; your order ships free to a Barrie address or to a local bike shop you choose and book for assembly. Product pages give specs such as the motor, battery Wh, tire size and frame, so you can compare before ordering.
Which e-bike handles a Barrie winter?
One with fat tires. Barrie averages 223.0 cm of snow a year (Environment Canada, 1981–2010), and in winter the City clears only a few park paths, such as the Kempenfelt Drive to Hurst Drive bike path. A bike on 4.0 in tires, such as the Taubik Escape S on 20 x 4.0 in CST BFT tires, puts a much wider footprint on packed snow than a narrow-tire commuter.
How long does delivery to Barrie take?
Count 1–3 business days for processing, then 2–7 business days for shipping, depending on location. A tracking number reaches you by email when the bike leaves. Someone must sign for the insured box at delivery, so ship it to an address where someone can sign for it, or to a local bike shop you choose.
Who can assemble or repair my e-bike in Barrie?
A bike shop you choose. Book the assembly with a Barrie-area shop and give us their address as the delivery point. For later repairs, our electric bicycle repair guide sorts what you can fix yourself from what needs a shop. Delivered to your home instead? Photograph the box before you open it.
