Calgary by pathway
The City of Calgary maintains about 1,000 km of regional pathways and 96 km of trails, lists another 290 km of on-street bikeways and cycle tracks, and calls it the most extensive urban pathway and bikeway network in North America. Pathways follow the Bow and Elbow Rivers, Nose Creek, West Nose Creek and the Western Irrigation District Canal, pass through Fish Creek Provincial Park and ring Glenmore Reservoir. The Rotary/Mattamy Greenway on its own is a 138 km loop around the city.
Long rides call for a big battery
One of the City's suggested routes leaves Max Bell Arena and follows the canal 28 km to Chestermere, almost 60 km out and back. Range claims are the brands' own, so compare battery size in Wh. The Velotric Discover M carries a removable 802 Wh battery (Velotric lists up to 153 km on pedal assist) on a low step-through frame with an 80 mm air fork. More picks: long-range e-bikes.
Steep pathway sections
The City says some pathway sections aren't suitable for winter use because of slope steepness or site conditions. On grades, a mid-drive sends its power through the bike's gears: the Discover M pairs a Velotric VeloCore mid-drive and torque sensor with a Shimano CUES 9-speed. For rougher trail, the Velotric Summit 2 runs 27.5 x 2.4 in Kenda MTB tires, a 120 mm RST air fork and the same 802 Wh battery size; see electric mountain bikes.
Snow, with mild spells
Environment Canada's 1991–2020 normals for the Calgary airport record 138.7 cm of snowfall a year, with the first snowfall around October 3 and the last around May 8. January still averages 16.6 days with a high above 0 °C. The City clears about 750 km of approved pathways within 24 hours after a snowfall ends, and most cycle tracks within 24 to 48 hours. National Defence's The Maple Leaf notes fat tires give excellent traction on snow, though they can be unstable on ice. The EUNORAU FAT-HD 2.0 has 26 x 4.0 in Kenda fat tires, a Bafang M615 / BBSHD mid-drive and a Shimano 9-speed.

Questions
Do you deliver e-bikes to Calgary?
Yes. Shipping is free to Calgary addresses, as it is across Canada. The bike can come to your home or to a local bike shop you choose and book for assembly. We don't ship to P.O. boxes, and someone must sign for the package at delivery, so pick an address where someone will be in.
How long does delivery to Calgary take?
Orders are processed within 1–3 business days, then shipping takes 2–7 business days depending on where you are located. We email you a tracking number once the order has been processed. On a long trip across the country, tracking can show no new scan for up to 5 days, and that is normal.
Can I test ride an e-bike in Calgary first?
Not with us: Fast Ebikes sells online only, with no Calgary showroom, no test rides and no pickup. To get a feel for pedal assist, try a shared e-bike: the City of Calgary's Shared Micromobility program lists Bird and Lime shared e-bikes. Then compare motor type, battery Wh, tires and weight on our product pages.
Which e-bike suits Calgary's hills and snow?
For steep pathway sections, a mid-drive with a torque sensor, such as the Velotric Discover M, climbs through its gears. Snow is the other half: the Calgary airport averages 138.7 cm a year (Environment Canada, 1991–2020), and fat tires grip well on it. The EUNORAU FAT-HD 2.0 combines 26 x 4.0 in Kenda fat tires with a Bafang mid-drive.
Who assembles an e-bike shipped to Calgary?
You, or a bike shop you pick. You can send the order straight to a local bike shop you choose and book for assembly. If it comes to your home, take photos or a video of the box before you open it, then check the frame, the wheels and the battery before you start.
